A 38-year-old construction worker, Khaleelulla, originally from Mahabubnagar, died in police custody at Hagaribommanahalli Police Station in Karnataka’s Vijayanagara district in August 2026. He was reportedly brought to the station around 1:30 AM following a domestic dispute complaint filed by his wife. His family alleged that he was severely assaulted while in custody, resulting in his death. Head Constable Ittigi Raghavendra and Constable Venkatesh were arrested and booked in connection with the case on charges including murder and causing hurt. The Karnataka State Police Complaints Authority also initiated a suo motu inquiry into the incident, seeking accountability and further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the custodial death.
