Preparations for Hampi Utsav 2026 are highlighting an ambitious illumination plan designed to enhance the cultural festival experience at Karnataka’s UNESCO World Heritage Site. District Commissioner Kavita S. Mannikeri announced plans for a spectacular 50-kilometre illuminated corridor connecting Hosapete with the historic Hampi region. The proposed lighting arrangement will begin near the main district office in Hosapete, pass through Kamalapur, and extend to the renowned Virupaksha Temple in Hampi. The initiative aims to create a visually striking route for visitors while showcasing the region’s historical landmarks and cultural significance. Compared with the monument lighting arrangements used in previous editions, the expanded corridor is expected to bring greater visual prominence to the surrounding areas during the festival. Hampi Utsav celebrates the rich heritage, architecture, traditions, music, and performing arts associated with the Vijayanagara Empire. The illumination plan is intended to improve the festival atmosphere and provide visitors with a memorable experience while exploring this historic destination.
